Instructions
  1. Line a soup bowl or cereal bowl with plastic wrap or another non-stick liner and set aside.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, use a fork or spatula to combine the vegan cream cheese and vegan butter until well blended.
  3. Divide the vegan cream cheese mixture into thirds. Press the first third of vegan cream cheese into the bottom of the lined bowl, as you would for pressing it into a mold.
  4. To the bowl, add a layer using half of the crushed nuts, then a layer using half of the chopped basil. Add another layer of chopped sweet red peppers, if using.
  5. Add the second third of the vegan cream cheese mixture and use the last half of the nuts, basil and red peppers in layers. Finish with the last third of the vegan cream cheese as the top.
  6. Cover the top of the bowl and refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
  7. To serve, remove the top covering from the bowl. Invert the bowl onto a serving platter or plate, then remove the bowl and plastic wrap or other lining. Surround the vegan cream cheese spread with torn bread or a variety of crackers, or place it on a charcuterie tray.
  8. Refrigerate any left over spread in a covered dish for up to a week. Also great served with toasted bagels.
