What could be better on an autumn morning than this pumpkin pear smoothie? The flavors are mild and everything you want from a pumpkin smoothie. The spices are flavorful, the smoothie is creamy and filling, and it’s ORANGE (okay, pale orange). The oats in the smoothie fill you up, and the pear and pumpkin give it that autumn feeling we all want this time of year. Even Mr. Key Lime liked it and he’s pretty strict about which fruits grace his daily smoothies.
Speaking of the mister, he’ll be joining us here on Key Lime Coconut, occasionally, with his smoothie recipes! I think it’s kind of exciting! I’ve been wanting a smoothie category here on the blog, but I’m not really much of a smoothie drinker or maker. This way, you get the authenticity of someone who makes a smoothie nearly every day. He’s the real deal. His name is Mitch, and he’ll author his own blog posts, but our daughter has suggested calling him “The Smoothie Operator.” I don’t know! I sorta like it! We’ll sort it all out by next Sunday. Stay tuned.
This recipe is adapted from Kristine’s Kitchen. I eliminated the yogurt from the recipe, and it’s just great without it! I also used a pear instead of an apple, but both would taste yummy in this recipe. A nice tip from Kristine’s Kitchen: to save leftover pumpkin puree, put spoonfuls of it on a cookie sheet and freeze by the spoonful, then pop them into a freezer bag to use later. I love that tip! Don’t have pumpkin pie spice on hand? Quickly mix some together with the spices in your kitchen, using these 3 Pumpkin Pie Spice Mixes.
