  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Lightly grease one 8- to 9-inch pie plate or square casserole dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking powder until well blended.
  3. Add the applesauce, vegan butter, and plant-based milk, stirring to mix well.
  4. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The cornbread should be lightly browning around the top edges. Serve warm.
