I just love this vegan chocolate popcorn Halloween mix for this time of year! Use this yummy treat for a snack or bag it up for party treats. Use your favorite colorful holiday sprinkles to make it a treat for any holiday! This mix is a great snack mix to take in the car when running holiday errands. Throw it in a tin and give it as a gift!
Around Halloween, Mr. Key Lime and I always get sugar-y cravings. Each year we try to keep our snacks as healthy as possible, while still getting a little bit of sweet satisfaction. We both like this snack mix for the crunch, the popcorn, and of course the vegan chocolate! And I like how pretty it is.
This is a great recipe for the kids to help make. Every step, from popping the popcorn and mixing in the cereal, is easy and fun. Mom can drizzle on the chocolate, while the kids come along behind and add the sprinkles.
When I make my mix, the chocolate usually won’t harden on its own. We live in Florida and the warm temps plus high humidity, even in October, don’t help with hardening chocolate. I always have to pop my melted chocolate into the freezer, even if just for a minute or two. As a result, when I make this mix, I usually place my strip of wax paper on a cutting board or platter beforeĀ I spread the popcorn and cereal onto it. This way, once I’ve drizzled the chocolate and sprinkles, I just pick up the cutting board or platter and slide it into a space I’ve prepared in the freezer.
Once you’ve chilled the chocolate enough to harden it, the chocolate will stay solid unless it’s exposed to heat enough to melt it. At that point, it is ready to be put in serving dishes or treat bags, or set out on your holiday snack buffet.

- In a microwaveable bowl or cup, melt the vegan chocolate chips by cooking them on high for 20 to 30 second intervals, stirring between each time, until melted.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the popped popcorn and cereal squares. Spread them evenly on a piece of wax paper on the counter or on a cutting board or platter you will put in the freezer for cooling the chocolate.
- Using a small spoon, drizzle the melted chocolate over the cereal/popcorn mixture. As you drizzle the chocolate over an area (about 1/3 of the mix), sprinkle Halloween sprinkles (or any holiday sprinkles) onto the drizzled chocolate. This will help it stick to the popcorn and cereal.
- Once you have the chocolate and sprinkles evenly over the popcorn mixure, let it cool for the chocolate to harden. If you find the chocolate isn't hardening quickly enough, place the popcorn mixture (in a bowl or on a platter or cutting board) into your freezer for 1 to 2 minutes.
- After a couple of minutes, remove the mix from the freezer. Serve immediately, or store lightly covered on the counter for up to 4 days.
