During the hot summer days, I like going to morning farmers markets. The Daytona Beach Downtown Farmers Market is open from 7 a.m. to noon every Saturday, so we shopped the market late morning, then went across the bridge from City Island to Beach Street for a nice restaurant lunch.
The market appeared to be on the small side at first glance, but closer inspection revealed three big sellers with a lot of fresh produce, tropical and otherwise. We saw mango, pineapple, papaya, and lemons among a ton of fruits, and all the usual vegetables, plus some veggies that were new to us. Aside from the three big tents, smaller sellers were there with their own honey, spice mixes, t-shirts, and other goods. All of the vendors we spoke to said they are there every Saturday, which is good for return shopping to get items you’ve bought before. A trusted seller of local honey that I had met before also sells there – that’s worth the trip!
I like this market because of its location. We can roll out of bed on a Saturday, run over to Beach Street, see the market, then go get coffee/breakfast/lunch and walk around the shops for easy exercise. You can find the market at 105 Orange Avenue in Daytona Beach – on City Island.
